A middle-aged man, FRANKLIN RODGERS, is seated behind a desk in a rather small, cluttered office. He is fixing up his desk, though a knock on the door arouses his attention, and he looks up mid-paper shuffle.
FRANKLIN Hello?
The door slowly creeps open to reveal Mimi, appearing anxious.

With an overhead shot, we see her amicably conversing with a customer, though we cannot hear their conversation quite yet, and she hands a cup over to the woman. The customer nods, smiles, and walks away, and the camera swoops down to capture the scene. Sighing, now alone, she backs up to lean against the ice cream cooler again, eyes closed. ADAM, a rival ‘free samples’ man from the other side of the store, casually walks up and taps Mimi on the shoulder. She pokes one

As the camera pans overhead, a series of customers are witnessed within the aisles; a mother consoling her sobbing infant, a man debating different brands of baked beans, a couple of old female friends chatting. The camera swings down to twenty year old MIMI RITER, sporting a green employee apron. She’s leaning against an ice cream cooler, arms crossed, scowling. Placed a few feet in front of her is a table with six boxes of fiber bars stacked in the middle, a sign reading “FREE SAMPLES” hanging down from it. Customers notice her eyeing them with extreme distast
